Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the Bridewell web app at bridewell.io (the "Service"). Please read them; by creating an account you agree to them. The Privacy Policy and the Cookie Policy explain how we handle data and are part of the picture but not part of this contract.
1. Who we are
The Service is provided by:
Bridewell is operated by Ataman Software, org. no. 938 339 317
Grønvoll allé 8 A, 0661 Oslo, Norway
contact@bridewell.io
Bridewell is also available as an app for iPhone, iPad and Mac, and as an app for Android. The Apple versions are additionally governed by Apple's App Store terms and the Android app by the Google Play terms; these Terms apply to the web app and to the Android app, which uses the same Bridewell account.
2. Your agreement and eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract.
- If you use the Service for a business, such as a professional wedding planner working for clients, you confirm that you may bind that business and "you" means the business.
- Consumers keep every right that Norwegian and EU/EEA consumer law gives them. Nothing in these Terms limits those rights.
3. The Service
Bridewell helps you plan a wedding — guests, budget, vendors, checklist, timeline, seating, notes, inspiration, shopping list and registry — alone or together with people you invite.
- Free plan. The free plan is free of charge and limits how many items you can add in each section, and the account to one wedding. The current limits are shown in the app when you reach them. Existing items are never removed or locked because of a limit: you can always view, edit, delete and export what you have added.
- Premium is for one couple: unlimited items in every section, unlimited collaborators, up to 3 active weddings, live run-sheet links for your vendors, and printable place and table cards. Exports (PDF, Excel, CSV, JSON, calendar) and printing the seating chart and lists are included in every plan. Pro is for professional planners: 15 active weddings (more with capacity packs of 10), reusable templates, a planner view across every wedding, and hand-off of a wedding to the couple. Business is for firms and venues and is agreed individually (4.7). Every paid plan is sold as a monthly or annual subscription (the web app offers no one-time purchase). Section 4 explains prices, renewal, cancellation and your right of withdrawal.
- Plan limits. Each plan includes the volumes in the table below. They bound how much an account may add; they never delete, hide or lock anything you already have, also when you move to a smaller plan. "Unlimited" items are bounded only by your storage allowance and the fair-use rule in section 8.
- Archiving. The owner can archive a wedding that is over. It then becomes read-only for everyone, stays readable and exportable, and no longer counts as an active wedding. Archiving is never automatic and can be undone whenever the plan has room.
- Apple apps. A plan belongs to your Bridewell account, whichever store it was bought from. From the version of the Bridewell apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac that lets you sign in with a Bridewell account, the plan on your account applies there as well once you sign in: a plan bought on the web or in the Android app is active in the Apple apps, where Pro and Business unlock what Premium unlocks, as Pro's planner features are not part of the Apple apps. A plan bought in the Apple apps through the App Store is active on the web and in the Android app once the Apple app, signed in with your account, has recorded the purchase with it. The same applies to Premium you got in the Apple apps before they offered Bridewell accounts — a subscription, the one-time unlock, or the Premium kept for life by people who first downloaded the apps before Premium was introduced — once you sign in to the Apple app on a device that uses the Apple Account it belongs to. A purchase is recorded with one Bridewell account only. A plan that comes from the App Store has no limit on active weddings, as Premium in the Apple apps never had one. Purchases made in the Apple apps are described in 4.9.
- Android app. The Android app signs in with the same Bridewell account as the web app, so the plan on your account applies in both: a plan bought on the web is active in the Android app, and a plan bought in the Android app through Google Play is active on the web. Purchases made in the Android app are described in 4.8.

4. Premium: prices, payment, renewal, cancellation and withdrawal
This section applies when you buy Premium in the web app. It is written to meet the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven), the Marketing Control Act (markedsføringsloven) and the EU Consumer Rights Directive. Nothing here removes any right you have as a consumer. Purchases in the Android app and in the Apple apps are described in 4.8 and 4.9: wherever you use a plan, you manage, cancel and get refunds for it with the store you bought it from.
4.1 Who you buy from
Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. In practice: Paddle (Paddle.com Market Limited (UK) and Paddle.com Inc. (US)) is the seller on your receipt, charges your payment method, collects and remits VAT or sales tax, and processes refunds. The Paddle checkout terms apply to the payment itself; these Terms govern your use of Bridewell. We never see your card number.
4.2 Price and what you see before you pay
- Before you order, the app shows the plan, the price in your local currency including VAT or sales tax where it applies, the billing period, that a subscription renews automatically, how to cancel, and your right of withdrawal. The amount shown at checkout is the amount charged.
- Nothing is charged without your express confirmation: you tick a box acknowledging these terms and then confirm in Paddle's secure checkout, shown on our checkout page (pay.bridewell.io).
- Prices may change. A change never affects a period you have already paid for. For a subscription we will tell you by email at least 30 days before a new price applies to your next renewal, and you can cancel before then.
4.3 Subscriptions (monthly and annual)
- Premium and Pro start with a free trial of 7 days: access begins at once, the first charge is taken when the trial ends unless you cancel before, and Paddle emails you a reminder beforehand. The capacity pack has no trial and is charged when added.
- After the trial you can switch between Premium and Pro at the same billing interval, and add or remove Pro capacity packs, at any time in Plan & billing; Paddle charges or credits the difference for the rest of the current period on your next receipt. Moving between monthly and annual billing is done by cancelling at the end of the period and starting the other plan; during the free trial itself, plan changes are not possible, but cancelling is free. Moving to a smaller plan never removes anything you have added.
- The subscription renews automatically for the same period at the price shown at purchase until you cancel. Paddle emails a receipt for each payment.
- Cancel any time in Plan & billing (one button) or through the link in your receipt. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for; you keep Premium until then and are not charged again. You can undo a cancellation before that date.
- If a renewal payment fails, Paddle retries and may email you to update your payment method. Premium continues for a short grace period; if the payment cannot be collected the subscription ends and your account returns to the free plan.
4.4 Right of withdrawal (14 days) and refunds
- As a consumer you may withdraw from the purchase within 14 days of paying, without giving a reason. Use the Withdraw from contract & refund button in Plan & billing, or email contact@bridewell.io from your account address. You may also use the standard withdrawal form from Forbrukertilsynet.
- You asked for the plan to start immediately. The law would allow us to charge for the days used (angrerettloven § 26); we refund the full amount anyway, to the original payment method, without delay and at the latest within 14 days. If you withdraw during the free trial nothing has been charged and nothing needs refunding; the plan simply ends. Your plan ends when you withdraw. Everything you added stays in your account.
- After the 14 days a subscription can still be cancelled at any time (4.3), but a period already paid for is not refunded, except where the law requires it or Premium did not work as described. Write to us; we look at every case.
- If Paddle refunds a payment for any other reason, or your bank reverses it, the Premium that payment bought ends.
4.5 After Premium ends
Your account returns to the free plan. Free-plan limits apply to adding new items only — nothing you created is deleted, hidden or locked, and you can keep viewing, editing, deleting and exporting it.
4.6 Business customers
If you buy for a business (for example as a professional planner on Pro), enter your business details and VAT number at checkout so Paddle can invoice correctly. The right of withdrawal in 4.4 is a consumer right; we extend the same14-day full refund to Premium and Pro business customers as a courtesy.
4.7 Bridewell Business
Business is agreed individually: we confirm the volumes, the price (published from USD 149 per month, billed annually), the contract period, support and a data processing agreement in writing, and Paddle issues the invoice. Access is switched on by us within one business day of payment and runs for the agreed period. Business contracts follow the written agreement where it differs from this section; everything else in these Terms applies.
4.8 Purchases in the Android app
In the Android app, plans are bought through Google Play and not through Paddle. Google Play takes the payment, handles tax and receipts and processes refunds under the Google Play terms; you manage or cancel such a subscription in the Play Store on your Android device, and it renews and is cancelled the way the Play Store shows when you buy. The plan prices, what each plan includes (section 3) and what happens when a plan ends (4.5) are the same as on the web. The right of withdrawal in 4.4 and the Paddle-specific terms in 4.1 to 4.3 apply to purchases made on the web; for a purchase made in the Android app, Google Play's refund and withdrawal terms apply. Pro capacity packs and Business are bought on the web.
4.9 Purchases in the Apple apps
In the Bridewell apps for iPhone, iPad and Mac, Premium is bought through Apple's App Store and not through Paddle; Pro, capacity packs and Business are not sold there. Apple takes the payment at the price the App Store shows, handles tax and receipts and processes refunds under Apple's terms; you manage or cancel such a subscription in the subscription settings of your Apple Account, and it renews and is cancelled the way the App Store shows when you buy. The right of withdrawal in 4.4 and the Paddle-specific terms in 4.1 to 4.3 apply to purchases made on the web; for a purchase made in the Apple apps, Apple's refund terms apply. If Apple refunds a purchase, the plan it bought ends on every platform, and 4.5 applies.
5. Your account
- You need a verified email address. Keep it current; it is how we reach you about your account.
- Keep your password secret and do not share your account. You are responsible for what happens under your login until you tell us it has been compromised.
- One account per person. You may create or join several weddings from one account within your plan's limits.
- We may suspend an account that is used in breach of these Terms or that threatens the security of the Service. We will tell you why unless the law prevents it.
6. Your content
- It is yours. You keep all rights to the text, photos, documents and other content you add. You give us only the limited permission we need to host, store, back up, transmit and display it to you and your collaborators in order to run the Service — and for no other purpose.
- You are responsible for it, including personal data about other people (guests, vendors, your partner). You confirm you may enter and share it as you do. Section 4 of the Privacy Policy explains what that means in practice.
- Do not add content that is unlawful, that infringes someone's rights, that contains malware, or that you have no right to use.
- Photos and contract files have size and type limits shown in the app.
7. Collaboration and invite links
- An invite link gives anyone who has it access to your wedding with the role you chose, until it expires, is used up or you revoke it. Treat invite links like passwords and share them only with the people they are meant for.
- The wedding owner decides who has access, with what role, and can remove anyone at any time. Removing a collaborator locks them out immediately.
- Collaborators must follow these Terms too. You are responsible for content added by people you invite to the extent you could reasonably control it.
8. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- use the Service for anything unlawful, or to harass, threaten or defraud anyone;
- interfere with the Service, probe or circumvent its security or usage limits, or access it by automated means beyond ordinary browser use;
- Fair use. "Unlimited" items and collaborators are for planning the weddings in your account. Bulk-creating content by script, using Bridewell as general file storage, or reselling access is not permitted. If an account grows to many times what a comparable account holds, we may contact you before anything else happens; we never delete content for volume without telling you first;
- copy, resell or reverse-engineer the Service except where the law expressly allows it;
- use invite links or account emails to send spam;
- Guest emails. Email only people on your own guest list, only about your wedding. No advertising, no messages for anyone else, no addresses you were not given by the guest. Guests can stop your emails with one click and you cannot undo that through Bridewell. Accounts that cause complaints or bounces can lose guest emailing or be suspended (section 10).
9. Availability, changes and backups
- We work to keep the Service available and your data intact, but a free service comes without an uptime guarantee. Short interruptions for maintenance or updates can happen.
- We may improve, change or retire features. If a change materially reduces what the Service does, we will give reasonable notice in the app or by email.
- Keep your own copy of anything you cannot afford to lose. You can download your data at any time — each wedding under Settings → Export and your whole account under Account — or ask us for a copy (Privacy Policy §9).
10. Ending the agreement
- You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in Account → Delete account. This deletes the weddings you own and removes you from any you have joined. Everything is permanently erased within 30 days.
- We may end or suspend your access if you materially breach these Terms, if the law requires it, or if we discontinue the Service. If we discontinue it we will give at least 30 days' notice where possible so you can export your data, and we will refund the unused part of any subscription period you have paid for.
11. Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law — including our liability for gross negligence or intent, for personal injury, or under mandatory consumer protection rules. Otherwise, to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost data that you could have backed up, lost profits or lost opportunities, and our total liability for any twelve-month period is limited to the amount you paid for the Service in that period or, if you paid nothing, NOK 1 000. Consumers who paid for Premium keep their statutory remedies for digital services (Norwegian Consumer Purchases Act / digitalytelsesloven), including the right to a price reduction or refund when the Service does not work as described.
12. Intellectual property
The Bridewell name, logo, design and software belong to us or our licensors. These Terms give you the right to use the Service, not to copy it or use our brand.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For material changes we will notify you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect; the date at the top shows the current version. If you do not agree with a change you can delete your account before it applies. Continuing to use the Service after that date means you accept the new Terms.
14. Illegal content and complaints
To report content in a shared wedding that you believe is illegal or infringes your rights, email contact@bridewell.io with a link or description and the reason. We review reports promptly, may remove the content or suspend the account involved, and will tell the person concerned why so they can respond. This address is also our point of contact for authorities.
15. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by Norwegian law. If you are a consumer living in another EU/EEA country you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of that country.
- Talk to us first: most issues are solved quickly by email.
- Consumers in Norway can ask Forbrukertilsynet (the Norwegian Consumer Authority), www.forbrukertilsynet.no, for mediation, also about purchases. Consumers elsewhere in the EU/EEA may use the dispute-resolution body in their own country.
- Disputes may be brought before the ordinary Norwegian courts. A consumer may always sue in the courts of the place where they live.
