Moving your wedding to a Bridewell account

One account for iOS, Android and bridewell.io, plus macOS and visionOS. Moving connects your existing iCloud wedding to that account, so you can plan together across devices.

These steps are for Apple app version 2.2 and later. If you do not see them, check your app version. Android is coming soon (currently in closed testing); bridewell.io works in your browser.

Why move — and who can move?

Only the wedding owner can move it. Nothing moves automatically, and signing in alone does not move an existing iCloud wedding. You can choose Later and keep using iCloud. Collaborators ask the owner to move the wedding and send them an invite.

What moves?

The whole wedding moves, not selected sections. In Settings, choose Move to your Bridewell account. Review the wedding counts, photo and file checks, and collaborators before sending. Wedding data goes to Bridewell's EU servers.

Review any file warnings: oversized files may stay on this device. Sending shows progress and can resume after leaving the screen or an error. If the app says Waiting for iCloud, wait for iCloud to catch up before continuing.

Your iCloud copy is kept

Moving never deletes your iCloud data or its shared zone. During the move, the owner's device bridges iCloud and the account, so collaborators on an older app version can keep syncing through iCloud.

Wait until everyone has updated and accepted their account invite before choosing Finish move. After finishing, the iCloud copy is a backup, not an ongoing mirror of the account. Older versions still use iCloud; their later edits do not keep the account in step. Updated devices must sign in and join to keep editing the moved wedding.

You can cancel the move until iCloud has recorded it.

Bring your collaborators with you

The owner shares a separate invite link or QR code for each collaborator. Each person joins with their own Bridewell account. Keep those invites private: the link grants access to the wedding.

Join a wedding by link or QR code

An account invite looks like https://bridewell.io/join/… . Open the link, or scan its QR code with your phone camera. With a supported Bridewell app installed on iOS or Android, the link can open the app; otherwise use the browser. Android app access is currently limited to closed-test participants.

Sign in to your own Bridewell account, then confirm joining the wedding. Opening or scanning the link alone does not join. If it has expired or no longer works, ask the owner for a new invite.

Can I go back to iCloud?

Yes. The owner can choose Return to iCloud from Settings under Wedding, the move screen or the read-only banner. It is available signed out too, but not while a different account is signed in.

The app shows how many changes have not yet been sent. Those changes stay in the wedding returned to iCloud, but never reach bridewell.io. The return merges changes made in iCloud meanwhile; this device wins when both changed the same field. Deleted items may come back.

The bridewell.io copy stays, and invited people keep access to it, until you delete it there. Returning does not delete either copy or keep the two copies syncing forever. Wait for iCloud to catch up before moving again.
