Your 3-month wedding checklist

Three months asks for quick decisions and a smaller plan, not a worse wedding. This is Bridewell's checklist as the app schedules it for a couple starting three months out: every booking up front, then a steady order for the rest.

How to make three months work

  • Spend the first week on bookings: venue, officiant, photographer and caterer. Ask venues for their open dates instead of picking a date first.
  • Choose a venue with in-house catering and furniture: one booking instead of four.
  • Skip save-the-dates. Send the invitations themselves as soon as the venue is confirmed, or at the latest 6 weeks before.
  • Use online RSVPs: replies arrive in days, not weeks, and the head count keeps itself.
  • Check the marriage requirements where you marry now: documents and waiting periods can take longer than the rest of the plan.
  • Buy attire ready to wear and leave time for one round of alterations.

Questions, answered

Can you plan a wedding in three months?

Yes. Keep the guest list small, choose a venue that does most things itself, and book in the first week. Couples who decide quickly often enjoy the shorter run-up.

Should we send save-the-dates with three months to go?

No. Send the invitations instead, with a reply-by date, so guests have one thing to answer.

What gets dropped?

Usually the extras, not the essentials: fewer vendors, simpler stationery, a smaller guest list and decorations the venue already has.
